Classes

3/4 year old classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 OR 12:30- 3:30. Tuition is $100.00 a month


4/5 year old classes meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30-11:30 OR 12:30-3:30. Tuition is $120.00 a month.

OR

4/5 year old class meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-3:30. Tuition is $175.00 a month. The curriculum and content will repeat in the afternoon but the activities will be different. 

 

There is a $40.00 non-refundable deposit fee due at the time of enrollment.


Curriculum

Grace Lutheran Church Preschool’s curriculum goals are based on the guidelines from the Foundations of Indiana Academic Standards: Young Children from Birth to age of 5.


Classroom & Curriculum Goals


   Our goal is…

  • that each child develops a love and excitement for learning and school;
  • that each child masters basic skills needed for Kindergarten;
  • that each child gains confidence and independence to do basic skills on their own;
  • that each child will benefit from basic Christian education;
  • that each child will benefit from opportunity to learn and progress at his/her own rate of learning without feeling pressure

Children will learn these skills based on early childhood standards though thematic units.

Reading and Language

  • Develop oral language competency.
  • Speak in complete sentences.
  • Express ideas clearly. 
  • Retell happenings in order. 
  • State their full name.
  • Increase vocabulary.
  • Enhance listening skills.
  • Follow directions in sequence.
  • Recognize rhyming words.
  • Enjoy stories and poems.
  • Listen to peers in conversations.
  • Develop pre-reading and reading skills.
  • Recognize left to right and top to bottom progression. 
  • Practice Letter recognition.
  • Work with opposites. 
  • Recognize their printed name. 
  • Develop writing skills. 
  • Hold the pencil correctly. 
  • Form Letters correctly. 
  • Write first name.



Math

  • Recognize and understand the value of numerals from 0-5 (3’s) and 0-10 (4’s)
  • Identify everyday uses for numbers.
  • Practice counting 0-20.
  • Practice in problem solving through materials and experiences. 
  • Learn geometric shapes.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of sorting, patterns and sets.



Science 

  • Be provided with opportunities to gain answers to questions through experimentation, research and problem solving.
  • Be provided with a variety of experiences which stimulated his/ her curiosity. 
  • Be exposed to the following units: animal life, sea life, plant life, weather, five senses, road and fire safety, healthy living habits and recycling.



Social Studies

  • Participate in activities involving the following units: home and family life, community helpers, patriotic and national holidays, transportation, communication, and current events.

 


Physical Education 

  • Be involved in free and organized play.
  • Be involved in indoor and outdoor play.
  • Be given opportunities to participate in the following
  • Games and activities that involve large and small motor skills.
  • Rhythmic activities
  • Sand and Water activities
  • Physical Movement with stationary and movable equipment
  • Manipulative activities: peg boards, puzzles
  • Construction activities: blocks, boxes, Legos
  • Use independent practices for self-care, dietary and hygiene habits: eating, dressing, washing hands, toileting, using a tissue, etc..



Art
Use the following are media:

  • Paint
  • Playdough
  • Drawing
  • Gluing
  • Cutting
  • Mixed media
  • Chalk



Music
Experience and be involved in music through:

  • Singing
  • Listening
  • Movement
  • Playing rhythm instruments

 


Dramatic Play

  • Be encouraged to dramatize play both informally in learning centers and outdoors and more formally in Chapel time, story time, and group activities. 
  • Have opportunities to use puppets, costumes and other props to identify with people, times, and places in a make- believe world.



Spiritual Growth

  • Sing praises to God in response to His love.
  • Learn to love God as creator of our wonderful world.
  • Learn about Jesus as their Savior. 
  • Realize that God will always love them, no matter what they do, because Jesus died on the cross to take away their sins. 
  • Learn to pray for themselves and others. 
  • Realize that God is always with them. 
  • Share God’s love with others.
